ice-capedes hat gestern im BlueOvalForums einen höchst interessanten Einblick in den Bestellprozess gegeben und welche Einflussmöglichkeiten der Händler auch auf z.B. die Lieferzeit hat.

Das Thema ist so komplex, dass ich auf eine Übersetzung verzichte, ich zitiere das Original. Wir können dann ja alle (zumindest für Teile des Textes) google- translate benutzen.
ice-capades 22 hours ago hat geschrieben: The Dealer submits the order to the USOB (Unscheduled Order Bank) via the WBDO (Web Based Dealer Ordering) system. The default priority code is 19. The Dealer can assign a retail priority code in the 10-19 range. The priority codes should be assigned by the Dealer to reflect the order in which the Dealer wants the orders scheduled, usually based on the original order date. Priority codes 01 and 02 can only be assigned by Dearborn or the Ford regional office. Retail priority codes (10-19) and stock order priority codes (20-80) are all assigned by the Dealer, including priority code 99 which means "Do NOT Schedule".  

In WBDO, the Dealer also attaches the customer e-mail to the order. In addition, as part of the original retail order process, the Dealer submits the order information along with a copy of the signed Buyer's Order and the customer's Driver's License to the COVP (Customer Order Verification Program) which, once verified, qualifies the order for incremental allocation and priority scheduling. Regular order scheduling is done on Thursday's but COVP verified orders with incremental allocation can be scheduled at any time. Not all vehicle lines are scheduled each week. 

All orders are subject to commodity restraints in order to schedule. Other factors involved include the microchip shortage, supplier and supply chain issues, plant constraints, interrupted plant operations, etc. Commodity restraints change frequently and Dealers have access to the current commodity restraints from several sources. In addition, Dealers have access to the AM Preview Scheduling Report (Tuesday-Friday) which shows orders previewing to be selected for scheduling and includes applicable commodity and plant constraints for orders not previewing to be selected. The AM Preview Scheduling Report is updated daily to reflect status and commodity changes.   

Vehicle specifications and any dates related to scheduling, production and shipping, including the final delivery to the dealership are subject to change. Ford is currently dealing with supplier and supply chain issues with 37 different vendors that supply parts and/or components. Due to all the factors involved in scheduling, production and shipping, the OTD (Order to Delivery) time can be substantial and include delays at any or all stages of the retail order process due to the tremendous increase in the retail order volume. Shipping times have increased tremendously lately due to equipment and staff shortages. Retail customers making specification changes to orders not already "locked in" can expect additional delays to the scheduled production date, etc.   

VIN numbers and the initial scheduled production week are assigned at the time the order is scheduled. Dealers have 24/7 access to the Vehicle Visibility reporting system that provides the complete order history including all scheduling, production and shipping information updates. Rail carrier and rail car numbers are also included in the Vehicle Visibility report. Customers requiring detailed order status information should contact the sales manager directly. Sales representatives are most often not familiar with the retail order process, Vehicle Visibility or the resources available.

Gehen wir mal weiter in der dortigen Diskussion, diesmal aus einem anderen Thread aber im Thema (beide sind dort Ford- Moderatoren):

I think what you’re saying is if Ford schedules 8000 trucks each week and there are 50,000 COVP order - how many does each dealer get. And that’s where it gets complicated because of the huge backlog. I don’t think anyone here knows that answer - the scheduling system has an algorithm to decide maybe with some manual input.

Years ago, my dealership was known as "Birdland" and was one of the top 10 Thunderbird dealerships in the country and the largest Thunderbird dealership from Washington, D.C. to the Canadian border. At the end of the 1986 Model Year, the Ford regional office called our Dealer Principal and told him that they had extra allocation for 50 Thunderbirds if we were interested. We took all 50, placed the orders within hours and all 50 vehicles were scheduled, produced and delivered within 3.5 weeks!

Dealers used to be able to add a B16 code to stock orders which authorized Ford to schedule those orders above the Dealer's allocation. It was the end of the Model Year (1987?) and I submitted 75 Taurus orders with the B16 code to see if we could get additional inventory. They scheduled all 75 vehicles the next day, scheduled with consecutive VIN numbers and they were all delivered to the dealership on the same day. Imagine seeing 9 car carriers arrive at the same time in the shopping mall parking lot across the street from the dealership!

The process has gotten more complex within the past year or so. Certain new vehicles have started with a reservation process that were then converted to orders and the retail reservations and orders overwhelmed the available production capacity pushing the excess, unscheduled retail orders to the following Model Year. Further, Ford has skewed the allocation for specific vehicle lines to supply more inventory or retail units to select markets.

Ford created the COVP (Customer Order Verification Program) system to address the tremendous increase in retail customer factory orders and to provide incremental allocation and priority scheduling to satisfy the increased retail demand. Even so, the scheduling and production process is still overwhelmed with the retail demand vs. supply and all the factors involved including commodity restraints, microchip shortages, supplier issues, supply chain issues, plant constraints, interrupted plant operations, etc.

Ford is addressing the new market conditions as best it can, implementing new processes and making adjustments as needed in order to more successfully meet the demands of customers, market conditions and Dealers.

Das erklärt dann wahrscheinlich gewisse Abläufe und ?Logiken? bei der Mustang-Produktion. :)
